How Stakao works: automated TAO staking with a risk engine
Stakao automates Bittensor staking in three parts. Something suggests the subnets. A risk engine decides what to buy and when to sell. And your TAO never leaves your wallet.
- AI picks the subnets
- A risk engine protects every position
- Your TAO stays in your wallet
A suggestion, a risk engine and your own wallet
On Premium, every position gets a stop-loss and a profit lock, and idle TAO keeps earning staking rewards on Root. Your TAO never leaves your wallet.
- 1Suggests
AI agent, quant score or basket
Suggests the subnets worth holding. It cannot buy, sell or touch your keys.
- 2Decides
Risk engine
Decides what to buy, how much and when to sell. Every position gets a stop-loss and a profit lock.
- 3Stays yours
Your wallet
Your TAO stays in your own wallet. Stakao can stake and unstake, but can never transfer.
What picks the subnets
The AI agent, the quant score or the basket rule only suggests subnets. It cannot buy, sell or touch your keys.
AI Agent
An AI agent reads market data and subnet news and suggests the subnets worth holding.
Quant Core
A score built from market data ranks the subnets and suggests the best-ranked ones.
Market-cap baskets
Top 10 and Top 20 Market Cap follow the largest Bittensor subnets as the market moves.
Theme baskets
Four baskets each follow one category of subnets, so you can back a theme you believe in.
Whichever one you choose, the same risk engine takes over from there.
How the risk engine protects every position
A rules-based risk engine decides what to buy, how much and when to sell. The same rules apply to every wallet.
Sized for risk
Each position is sized so that about 1% of your wallet is at risk.
Spread-out entries
Entries are spread over time, and the engine can decide not to buy at all.
A stop-loss that adapts
Every position gets a stop-loss that adapts to the subnet’s volatility and only ever moves up.
A profit lock
As a position gains, its stop rises to lock in part of the gain.
Watched around the clock
Positions are watched around the clock, and a position is sold when its stop is hit.
Idle TAO keeps earning
TAO that is not in a position stays on Root, where it keeps earning staking rewards.
What a stop-loss cannot do
A stop-loss limits losses but cannot remove them: in a thin market, a sale can fill below the stop price. Staking and subnet tokens carry risk.
Your TAO stays in your wallet
Everything runs through a staking-only permission. Stakao cannot transfer your TAO, and you can revoke access in one transaction. The part of Stakao that decides holds no keys.
A staking-only permission
You sign one Bittensor proxy from your wallet. It lets Stakao stake and unstake for you. It does not allow transfers.
Revoke it at any time
Revoking takes one transaction from your wallet and ends Stakao’s access. The part of Stakao that decides holds no keys.
Small, visible costs
Bittensor reserves a 0.126 TAO deposit for as long as the staking permission exists, and your wallet pays the Bittensor network fees.
Free strategies: Auto Validators and Smart DCA
You do not need Premium to start. Two strategies are free, and you stay in charge of the subnets.
Auto Validators
You pick the subnets and the split. Stakao keeps your stake with strong validators.
About Auto ValidatorsSmart DCA
You pick the subnets and a schedule: daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly. Stakao enters step by step, with validators chosen for you.
About Smart DCAAuto Validators and Smart DCA do not use the risk engine, so they have no stop-loss or profit lock. You decide when to sell, and you can unstake at any time.
Start in three steps
To activate a strategy, your wallet needs at least 2 TAO, with at least 0.1 TAO free for fees.
- 01
Connect

- 03
Stay protected
Sign one staking-only permission.
On Premium, Stakao enters positions step by step, protects each one with a stop-loss and a profit lock, and keeps idle TAO earning on Root.
How Stakao works: your questions
The short answers to what people ask before they connect a wallet.
How does Stakao automate TAO staking?
You connect a Bittensor wallet and pick a strategy. An AI agent, a quant score or a basket rule suggests the subnets worth holding, and a rules-based risk engine decides what to buy, how much and when to sell. Your TAO stays in your wallet the whole time.
Does the AI control my TAO?
No. The AI only suggests subnets. A rules-based risk engine decides what to buy and when to sell, and nothing in Stakao can move TAO out of your wallet.
Is Stakao non-custodial?
Yes. Stakao is non-custodial. You sign a staking-only permission: Stakao can stake and unstake for you but can never transfer your TAO, and you can revoke access at any time.
What does a stop-loss do, and can I still lose money?
A stop-loss sells a position when its price falls to a set level. Each position is sized so that about 1% of your wallet is at risk. Every position gets a stop-loss that adapts to the subnet’s volatility and only ever moves up. You can still lose money. A stop-loss limits losses but cannot remove them: in a thin market, a sale can fill below the stop price.
What happens to TAO that is not in a position?
TAO that is not in a position stays on Root, where it keeps earning staking rewards. You can unstake it at any time.
What do I need to start, and what does it cost?
To activate a strategy, your wallet needs at least 2 TAO, with at least 0.1 TAO free for fees. Auto Validators and Smart DCA are free. Premium costs €19 per month or €168 per year, with a 7-day free trial, and Stakao never takes a cut of your staking rewards.
Pick the strategy that fits you
Start with a free strategy, or try Premium free for 7 days. Your TAO stays in your wallet either way.
Staking and subnet tokens carry risk, and past performance does not predict future results. Stakao is non-custodial and does not give financial or investment advice.
